O pogodzie. About the weather.

W każdym sklepie, kafejce, kiosku, biurze, autobusie... Wszędzie ta sama historia, to samo tupanie butami, to samo chuchanie i zacierania zmarzniętych palców.

It’s best to talk about the weather. All the comments boil down to one thing. It’s so cold, it’s so windy, what’s wrong with the heating, I’m freezing, let’s go for a coffee, I’m fed up with this winter, enough is enough, basta ya! In every shop, cafeteria, kiosk, office, bus… Everywhere the same story, the same stomping of boots, the same huffing and puffing and rubbing frozen fingers. And an occasional murmured swearword.

And here I stumble over the fact that I don’t fit in.

Because I’m not cold. Quite the contrary. Most of the time I’ m hot and unlike everybody else, it’s a relief for me to go outside and escape from the overheated and for weeks unaired rooms. (Any attempt at opening a window triggers a general panic attack).

Just to clarify – the average temperature is plus 5 rising to over 10 at times, it’s dry, sometimes the wind blows a little, sometimes a wee bit of rain drops from the sky.

So here I go terribly out of place and waiting for spring when I will be able to take part in the weather banter again. But that will only last a short time, for as soon as the summer starts I will stumble again – over the beads of sweat running down my temples and bags under my eyes because of nights made sleepless due to the heat.
