1 month – you will have an irresistible craving for cottage cheese; your body will rebel against the temperatures, the water and the decibels; each new place will be a mere comparison.
3 months – the map of The City in your head will be replaced by another one; the recipe for mince and tatties will fall into disfavour.
6 months – words will start to run away, duck their responsibilities, first in writing, then as you speak, float away, dissolve, float away beyond the horizon of immediate command, you will chase them in panic, making resolutions about this and that to stop the ebb, comforting yourself that the flow is just a matter of time.
9 months – once the closest family and the most faithful friends have visited you, you will stand face to face with an accomplished fact – that you will miss them always.
Longing. This is the currency you will have to use to pay for everything that you wanted more than seeing the people close to you more often.
The payment is due on the toughest day of the month.
No refunds are given.
