About perspective

Travelling, that is leaving and returning, expands the frames of our perspective. To the sides, upwards, downwards and into the deep.

First you have to leave, so that the things that should widen, can do so. Then you need to come back in order to be able to measure the new perspective against the old one and see that it’s a few sizes bigger. Just like the shoes that we’re wearing now are bigger than the ones we used to wear when our feet were barely touching the ground.

And we’re so proud, content, excited, full of self-awe, with plenty of momentum, as we’re sretching our view on life! How sweet it tastes, how easily it comes to us!

But despite all this widening, stretching and deepening, we don’t understand how small and shallow it all is. Until something with completely different dimensions happens.

And it becomes clear in the blink of an eye that we’ll never strech enough to grasp it. We’ll never be able to see when it starts and where it ends. The frame of our time will never include it. And we will have to wait for a wee bird to fly over and sing us a song about it all, like children sitting on the balcony in tiny shoes, with feet dangling above the ground.
